The 2007 Caribbean Commercial Bank sponsored 35 over cricket season commenced on April 14th 2007 at the Ronald Webster’s Park with an exciting match between Cap Juluca and the Blue Jays of the Farrington. Cap Juluca batted first, with the excellent batting of Omari Banks and Rhon Rogers earning the team 64 runs and 28 runs respectively. By the end of the match the team was able to amass 142 runs from 20 overs.

U-13 Male National Team

On Saturday 7th March 2007 the U-13 male national team travelled to St. Martin to participate in the Alberic A. Richards Memorial Football Tournament. The participating teams were Anguilla, St. Kitts, St. Martin and St. Maarten. Anguilla placed second in this competition with St. Martin awarded first place and St. Kitts 3rd place.

U-13 Male National Team

The Anguilla U-13 football Team returned from a successful tour of St. Kitts on Monday. They participated in a friendly quadrangle tournament with St. Kitts teams one and two and Nevis. In the first encounter Anguilla narrowly defeated St. Kitts by score of one (1) goal to nil (0), with Captain Mensah Richardson scoring the lone goal. Anguilla went under to Nevis 2 goals to 0 in the second game, but stormed back to beat St. Kitts #1 by a score of 2 goals to nil. Both teams were dead locked at 2 goals a piece at the end of regular time, but Anguilla’s boys held their nerves and outscored St. Kitts by 2 goals to nil (0) on penalty kicks.

Last Saturday, the football Knock-Out competition saw Soccerama Champions Attackers FC vs 2006 League Champions Roaring Lions FC. The game was keenly contested but when the dust settled it was the Roaring Lions who emerged victorious, defeating Attackers 3 goals to 2. With ten minutes left before the end of the first half, Melvin Angal opened the scoring with a textbook shot at the goal that beat Roaring Lions’ custodian.

Anguilla Golf Association held the third annual Peter Johnstone Claret Cup Tournament 10 March at Temenos Golf Course with twenty-nine golfers participating. It was an eighteen-hole event and the Claret Cup was presented to Theron Loizos with a gross score of 82. First low net Sally Hayes with a score of 65 and second low net, Lester Foreman with 67.

The first cycle race of the year took place at 1:44 pm, in front of C&W, on Sunday, February 25, 2007. As usual, it was a grand a spectator’s event. A large number of persons showed up to support their respective cycling teams or cyclist. The race commenced with a total of 27 cyclists from Anguilla and neighboring Island St. Maarten/Martin.

Foootball: Kicks United Defeat Attackers

Kicks United FC have defeated Attackers FC to gain supremacy in the AFA 2006 Senior Male Football League. During the first half the Kicks United scored two goals and dominate the first half causing Sugar George of the Attackers to an early sub after numerous mistakes by his defender Wayne Laudat. Attackers’ midfield was in shambles after their main midfielder Kimani Winston was out of the game due to 3 yellow cards. Junior Anthony tried hard in Midfield but was overworked by the consistent pressure of the Kicks Forwards.
