Therefore this is a tremendous opportunity to showcase St. Maarten/St. Martin and the best we have to offer in our Tourism oriented economy. We now have an opportunity to make a long lasting impression that will be beneficial to our Tourism Business.

Each year many tour operators and other tourism planners come to our island on a familiarization trip sponsored by the departments of Tourism. This obviously helps to promote and sell the island as a Tourism destination. The Hotel Associations of both sides of the island have now joined forces to facilitate the island in the same manner. S.M.A.R.T. is now an annual event, promoting our island with the help of the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) and the Associates de Hotels de St. Martin.

We expect more than 150 professionals in Tourism this year and increase thereafter as S.M.A.R.T. is beginning to be recognized as a CHA event. SHTA and AHSM have prepared for quite a while and the venue is set for Maho Resort and Casino from April 25th-28th of 2004.

This year, we are combining SMART with DCME (Dutch Caribbean Meets Europe) trade fair which will make the event even bigger as buyers from Europe and suppliers from Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao will also be present. We expect 300 tourism profesionals to partake in 2 events.
The Maho Beach Resort & Casino will be the venue for these events from April 25th through 28th, 2004.
