Colville L. Petty is a political scientist, historian and writer.
He holds a Master of Arts degree in History from the Vermont College of Norwich University, USA, a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Government from the University of the West Indies and a certificate of post-graduate in Public Administration from the University of Manchester in England.
He is widely regarded as an authority on Anguilla’s history on which he has published several books. His love for history prompted him to establish a private museum, Heritage Collection, which is a microcosm of the different facets of life of Anguillian people.
He was a former member of the Anguilla Public Service in which he held many senior administrative and statutory appointments which included Acting Deputy Governor and Acting Governor.
In 1993, he was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), in recognition of his distinguished public service career.
Coleville Petty writes a column in Anguilla's weekly newpaper The Anguillain where he comments on recent events, politics and how they affect life on the island.
