Stations of the Cross

In September 2000 Marge was commissioned to paint the 14 Stations of the Cross for St. Andrews Anglican Church in the village of Island Harbour, Anguilla. .

The Stations are painted on wooden panels and framed with mahogany strips. The shape of the paintings reflexes the window and door motifs . Quite a bit of artistic license was taken in rendering the backgrounds in the paintings. The entire way of the cross takes place on a Caribbean beach, yet the figures are realistic and in traditional attire. One station even has an Anguillian sailboat in the background Once the preliminary sketches were completed the laying in of the paint was done almost exclusively with a palette knife. . The project was installed in the church on Holy Thursday 2003
