SUNY Cobleskill-Anguilla

Dear Members,
The SUNY Cobleskill-Anguilla Advisory Committee (in which AHTA has membership) is seeking to revive the SUNY Cobleskill-Anguilla training program once again this summer and would like to know the level of interest and availability of students to participate in two (2) areas of study:

  1. CULINARY ARTS
  2. SMALL ENGINE REPAIR

As you may know, more than 200 Anguillians have been trained in the areas of Hospitality Management, Ornamental Horticulture, Agriculture, Small Engine Repair and Early Childhood Education as part of the SUNY Cobleskill - Anguilla program, which began in 1998. The program has been on hiatus for the past 2 years due to financial constraints however since the program is seen as critical to the continuing development of Anguilla's hospitality and ancillary sectors we are seeking to re-introduce the program this year.

Tentative dates for this summer's courses would be: June 21- July 2nd. 2004. The intensive courses would run Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm for 2 weeks.

Course outlines are currently being prepared however it is expected that the courses will be offered at the Intermediary level where students would be expected to have a basic working knowledge in their area of study. The Small Engine Repair course would target persons working in Maintenance and other related departments, while the Culinary Arts program would be offered to people who have a minimum of 2 years working experience in a professional kitchen.

Cost per participant - US$200.00

Professors from SUNY (State University of New York) Cobleskill would teach the courses. The State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill is a fully accredited, comprehensive undergraduate residential college.
Check out their website.

Please contact the AHTA by March 18th if you or a member of your staff would be interested in these courses.

Best regards,

Mimi
