Dominos

"Walk along any road in Anguilla from early evening and you will hear before you see the loud slam of the domino. Groups gather around small wooden tables and wait their turn to play. Often these sessions will go on into the night when all is quiet except for the sound of victory...SLAM!" From Seven Days on Anguilla

Dominos is taken very seriously on this island. It is not the national sport, that has to go to boat race, but for an all year activity played by young and old alike, you can't beat dominos.
Every small roadside bar or grocery usually has a game going after dark. Nobody will mind if you step up to watch the action. Usually if you show some interest a player will offer you a spot on the table but don't be fooled. This game is not as simple as it looks. In Anguilla as all over the Caribbean, Domino play has become an art that takes time and practice to master. All over the island domino tables are permanent fixtures right outside a small bar or shop.
In Island Harbour, check out the Island Pub for nightly action.
Stoney Ground has a domino club called the Warriors and they usually play at Bryan's Grocery on the main road.
Long Bay has a grocery that stays open till 11:00 every night. Flemming's Market has a group playing under the tree right outside the front door.
In West End Cheddie the wood sculptor has a club that holds domino events on a regular basis.
There are many more games going on in small roadside bars through out the island.
