Wilson Sporting Goods Sponsors ATA's 2006 Summer Tennis Camp

The Anguilla Tennis Academy, a non-profit, grassroots tennis program, is pleased to announce that Wilson Sporting Goods has agreed to sponsor the 2006 summer tennis camp. This camp is the biggest on the island to date, with over 1,500 children benefiting from the program.

The ATA is currently taking a monumental initiative for the development of tennis in the Caribbean by building a USD $4,000,000 state of the art facility. This facility and the ATA’s programs have received much recognition all over the world as its initiatives are unsurpassed in the Lesser Antilles.

Last year, the 2005 summer tennis camp and the 10 year celebration was a huge success mainly due to the fact that Wilson Sporting Goods was able to furnish the children with 15 cases of tennis balls, almost 100 rackets, grips, socks, shirts, teaching materials and many prizes. Wilson has been a major sponsor for the ATA for years now and all involved are excited by this partnership. When the ATA’s state of the art facility is completed, it will be proud to carry Wilson products such as rackets, balls and shoes as they are ranked among the best in the world.

Mitchelle Lake, founder and president of the academy, has been able to help make tennis a tier-one sport in Anguilla and surrounding islands. He has received much support from large corporate backings for 10 years from Black Entertainment Television (BET), American Eagle, the Tennis Channel, Edgar Bronfman jr. of Seagrams, as well as many other local businesses in Anguilla.

Mitchelle Lake observed: “This program and its success have been made possible by businesses and people who have shared my vision of developing youth through the game of tennis. Wilson Sporting Goods is most certainly the biggest name in tennis and we are proud to have a partnership that we can nurture throughout the years as we want the best for our children. I certainly appreciate their support.”
