Mitchelle Lake, Founder and Director of the Anguilla Tennis Academy and Camp, has announced plans for a new tennis complex on Anguilla.
|
On December 27, 2002 Mitchelle Lake unveiled his proposal for the future Anguilla Tennis Academy, a state of the art facility. Estimated cost
$1,684,300.00 to construct this breathtaking seven court Academy. Funding
for the project will come from a multitude of venues. The Government of
Anguilla has allowed the courts to be built on 6 acres in the Blowing
Point area. Many local businesses have offered to donate resources to help
with the project. The community has volunteered time and resources to
furthering the project.
ATA is a non-profit organization and all proceeds
will be reinvested into children's programs and future development of the
academy. All donations made will be tax deductible in the U.S. The
opening fund drive will be the purchase of a brick for $100.00 with names
of the donators inscribed. These bricks will be a walkway to
facility. For more information check Anguillaguide.com who will keep you
updated. To buy a brick fill out the form at the bottom of this article.
Tennis Camp 2002
Mitch is to be assisted for the first time by Iston Benjamin, who was himself a member of the programmer and learned to play tennis when he joined the first camp in 1996.
The first two weeks of the camp, which is for children from ages seven to seventeen, will be at the Webster Park courts. The third week will be at the Malliouhana and Carimar Tennis facilities, when visiting coaches from the USA, St. Kitts, St. Maarten and Puerto Rico will be assisting with the programme and giving extra opportunities to the young players. In the afternoons there will be match play for the participants.
