Villa Questions

How do we contact our agent?
While setting up your reservation with the agent for the property you are renting, make sure you get a contact number or two. This should be a local number so that if there is an emergency you can reach someone quickly. All agents now have cell phones for emergencies.

How do we get the telephone number of the villa?
Prior to your arrival on the island, make sure you have requested this information from the agent. If you have any difficulty just drop us a line and we will be happy to secure this information for you.

How will I get to the villa upon arrival?
The villa agent or their representative will be on hand at the airport or ferry terminal to meet you and escort you to the villa unless alternate arrangements have been made prior to your arrival.

Are the roads to the private villas drivable?
Most are. In the event that they are more difficult, we post this on the amenities list. Look for 'four wheel drive vehicles recommended'. For exploring the island, we recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle anyway.

Can I get a villa right on the beach?
In Anguilla, beachfront property is highly valued by the tourism industry and the Government has reserved development along the beaches for hotels and resorts.
Consequently, there are very few villas right on the beach, and those that are command a very high premium as luxury villas. However, many of our villas are on the water, or within a short walk of one of the popular beaches. Nowhere on Anguilla is more than a short car ride from a beautiful beach, and you will probably want to explore many of the beaches during your stay.

Are there beach chairs at the villa?
Most of the villas supply beach chairs; beach umbrellas beach towels and hair dryers, just check the list of amenities for each villa.

Are there laundry facilities at all villas?
In most cases there is either a washer and/or dryer for the use by the guests or there is a housekeeper who will be only too happy to do it for you. Check the amenities list for each villa. There may be a charge for this service as some villas.

Can we have a meal brought in prior to our arrival?
If arriving late, or arriving with children; food can often be a problem. Fat Cat Gourmet to the rescue. You can pre-order or your agent will be happy to do it for you.
Open: Mon-Sat. 10am-6pm
Telephone: 1-264-497-2307.
Your agent can easily have the food delivered to the villa. I recommend ribs, grilled chicken, coleslaw and shrimp pasta salad. Get enough for snacks for a few days.

How will I know how to get to the beach?
Upon arrival your agent will give you directions to the beach. If your arrival is late at night this is sometimes a little difficult. As a backup, the housekeeper for the villa can always give you directions the next morning. Ask myCaribbean to mail you an Anguilla map. Find out exactly where you are before you arrive.

Can we buy groceries on Anguilla?
Anguilla now boasts several large grocery stores with a large variety of products. A few grocery stores have fresh meat and deli items. Ashley’s just opened a pastry shop with fresh pastries and bagels. There is also a French bakery in Island Harbour that delivers fresh bread to grocery stores daily.

Are there mosquitoes or no-see-em’s?
It really depends on the time of year and how much rain there has been. However a few easy precautions will lessen your exposure and potential discomfort. Grocery stores carry a wide range of products and most villas are screened.
Don't hurt the lizards! Not only is a "House Lizard" considered lucky, but I love to eat lots and lots of bugs.
Close any unscreened doors & windows at sundown.
If you wish to watch the sunset from an open deck wear clothing that exposes the minimum amount of bare flesh or use some OFF to keep them at bay.

How do I make long distance calls from Anguilla?
Anguilla now has many ways to contact family and friends at home. Many visitors now bring their own cell phones with them for use during their stay. Check with your local provider to see if you have roaming to Anguilla. You have a couple of options when it comes to making long distance calls. All villas have telephones. You can make local calls anytime. In most cases long distance calls will be barred on your villa phone.
Long distance options:
Contact the operator - dial '0'
Credit card calls - check the current telephone directory in the villa for instructions but you can call 1-800-CALLUSA to make long distance calls using the following credit cards - American Express, Visa, MC, Discover and Diners Club
Have call barring removed - you can ask your villa owner or agent to remove the call barring from your telephone and pay for all calls when the telephone bill for your stay arrives (a deposit or credit card may be required).

Can I connect to the Internet from the villa?
Some villas offer an Internet connection. Check the list of amenities for each villa. If your villa does not offer a connection there are still a few options to get you connected.
Internet For Visitors is a service from Cable & Wireless, which runs over any phone that permits toll calls (check the telephone book for details). Charges are on a per minute basis and are added to the villa’s normal monthly bill. These will be charged back to you if arrangements for payment have been made. Please consult with the villa’s agent for deposit and/or credit card requirements for this service.
The library in The Valley offers the use of computers connected to the Internet for a nominal fee.

Are government tax and service included in the rate
In almost all cases on our site, the 10% government tax and service are included in the rate. If you are comparing rates between different web sites you may find that ours higher and that is because we include the tax and service.

Do I pay a service fee for renting with myCaribbean.com You will never have to pay any addl service fees for booking with myCaribbean.com. We work directly with the owner or their agent and our rates should be the same as anywhere else that the villa is advertised.

Who makes rental car reservations for me? Our villa agents are happy to make arrangements for you. Typically the vehicle will be delivered to the villa prior to your arrival. The car can be dropped off at your point of exit upon departure.

Do all villas have bbq's Very few do not. Check the amenities list to get details, as it will tell you if it has a gas or charcoal bbq.

What is the Dollar per day levy The dollar per day levy has recently gone into effect. It is a $1 per day per guest levy that villa and property owners have been asked to charge their clients. Property owners must then match the fee. These funds will be used by the Tourism Board to advertise the island. Some owners have simply incorporated the fee into the rental; others will be charging it separately. This became effective on April 1, 2006.
